For its musical and cultural uniqueness, the St. Thomas Church belongs to one of the most remarkable buildings in Europe. The church possesses a great heritage that is worthy of being preserved.

With the help of extensive public investments and private donations of altogether 20 million DM, the reconstruction of the church was successfully realized. In 2000, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of Bach's death, the work was finally completed.

However, this large-scale project was not the last necessary one. Up until 2004, the former school of the St. Thomas Boys Choir will be renovated, right in time for its 100th anniversary. Also, the Sauer-Organ needs to be restored in order to regain its full musical potential.

To finance these pending projects, approximately 1 million EUR are still needed
